On 2nd Dember 2023, MVIWAMORO coordinated Youth Skills Bonanza event at Morogoro Municipal. The event took place in KIKUNDI primary school football ground. The event involved youth from Opportunity for Youth and Employment (OYE) & Skills for Employment Tanzania (SET) from six districts in Morogoro region, civil society organization from implementing OYE and SET, representative from regional council office, ministry of education, SNV, Swiss Contact, Embassy of Switzerland in Tanzania. Honorable guest of the event was Morogoro regional commissioner RC Hon. ADAM MALIMA. Youth Skills bonanza had three major objectives which are; i. To awareness of the concept of Vocation Skills Development (VSD) and particularly what “non-formal VSD”. ii. To improve the reputation of VSD. iii. To give visibility to the SET and OYE projects among the target groups and the community Different approaches were adopted to inform the community and others young people the significance of skills development for sustainable employment creation. These approaches included the skills games play, exhibition where youth from SET and OYE project showcased various products to demonstrate their skills gained through OYE and SET projects. OYE and SET projects implemented in various districts across the regional which implemented by various civil societies organization such as MVIWAMORO, Sustainable Agriculture Tanzania (SAT), Youth Power Organization (YPO), CRESD, NEXIS, E-MAC, SUGECO, MWAYODEO, KINARA, MJUMITA and ECOWISE.
Six youth with outstanding business performance have been supported business capital included machine and cash. Moreover, the regional commissioner (RC) promises to support youth groups access business loan through 4-4-2 program through districts councils. Moreover, Switzerland embassy in Tanzania through Hon. Ambassador promises to continued support young population in the country by enhance employment creation through funding various development projects implemented by partners such as Swiss Contact and SNV Tanzania.
