“We (MVIWAMORO) congratulate the embassy of Finland by join efforts of United Republic of Tanzania government to fight against unemployment crisis especially for the young generation. MVIWAMORO is committed to complement these efforts by enhancing youth employment opportunities along agriculture value chain (horticulture) in rural areas. We encourage youth to dedicate their efforts, passion, skills and time in applying the skills which will be taught through this project” said Selemani Balali Chairperson of Mtandao wa Vikundi vya Wakulima na Wafugaji Morogoro (MVIWAMORO) during the project Stakeholder meeting held on Thursday 16th November 18 2023, at Morena Hotel in Morogoro. MVIWAMORO incept the two years youth economic empowerment and governance project named “Enhance productive capacity, entrepreneurship and improve labor market skills for youth employment creation”. The project is funded by the Embassy of Finland in Tanzania through its economic empowerment component. The project targeted to reached 300 youth aged 15 to 35 from three districts in Morogoro region which are Kilosa, Mvomero and Morogoro rural.

 

The project has four major objectives which are; i. To Increase opportunities (sustainable enterprises) for youth in employment & self-employment and improving agricultural productivity, livelihood and enhancing agro ecosystem resilience through Climate Smart practices. ii. To Increase access to financial services for youth to leverage livelihoods. iii. To Strengthen and expanded access to markets through exploitation of value chain and market linkages. iv. To Increase participation of youth in decision-making spaces. Key partners identified by the project are Ministry of Agriculture (MoA), Local government authorities (LGA), Tanzania Agriculture Development Banks (TADB), SIDO, TBS, Agri cycle Company, local traders, Youth and Media houses. In this meeting, partners have agreed on their key roles and contribution in each respective project focus area where partner affiliated. These focus areas are capacity building, access to finance, markets, climate change adaptation and policy engagement.
