Skills Development can contribute to structural transformation and economic growth by enhancing employability and labor productivity and helping countries to become more competitive. Investment in a skilled workforce can create a virtuous cycle, where relevant and quality skills enable productivity growth and foreign direct investment, which result in more and better jobs for the current workforce. This can be achieved by both public and private investment in provision of skills-based education rather than academic qualification. Currently, MVIWAMORO implementing Youth Skills Bonanza program in Morogoro region to promoted Skills development among young population in Tanzania. The program supported by the Embassy of Switzerland with the main three goals which are; a) Increase the awareness of the concept of VSD and particularly what “non-formal VSD” is. Further, b) Improve the reputation of VSD (e.g., by highlighting success stories of people whose VSD gains changed their life to the better). c) Give visibility to the SET and OYE projects among the target group and the community in general, thereby highlighting what Switzerland, Swisscontact and SNV contribute to Tanzania through these projects. The Swiss Government-funded Skills for Employment Tanzania Project aims at improving the chances for gainful (self-) employment and related escape from poverty of vulnerable young Tanzanians (aged 15-24). The OYE Project aims to increase youth (self-) employment and income by developing skills and competencies through tailored technical, vocational and life skills training, internships and post-training support. You can find the OYE's project factsheet here. Locations Five Youth Skills mini bonanzas will be implemented in five districts included Malinyi, Mlimba, Kilosa, Gairo and Mvomero. The program will be finalized with the main regional bonanza which will take place in Morogoro municipal. Total of 1,300 youth expected to be reached by all Youth Skills Bonanza events.
