In early March 2025, MVIWAMORO took an important step toward strengthening community livelihoods in Msimba Village by organizing a Village Community Bank (VICOBA) training session under the Forest and Farm Facility initiative. The three-day training brought together members of local Forest and Farm Producer Organizations (FFPOs) from the hamlets of Ng'apa, Miyomboni, Mji Mpya, and Msimba Kati. The goal was to help communities establish self-managed savings and loan groups that can support small businesses, farming activities, and household needs. Through interactive sessions and practical demonstrations, participants learned about group governance, financial record keeping, savings strategies, and loan management. The training also helped members develop group constitutions and establish clear rules for managing their finances collectively.
By the end of the training, eight VICOBA groups were successfully formed, bringing together 118 members-81 women and 37 men. Many members immediately began contributing shares and community savings, demonstrating strong commitment to the initiative. The activity was facilitated by experienced trainers with support from MVIWAMORO staff and coordinated by Joseph Sengasenga, the project coordinator. Through this initiative, MVIWAMORO continues to promote financial independence, community solidarity, and sustainable economic development in rural communities.
