From April 3rd to April 28th, 2024, MVIWAMORO embarked on a transformative journey in SIGNAL village, Ifakara, by conducting a comprehensive technical skills training program. This initiative aimed to equip fifty young mothers with the expertise needed to process staple agricultural products, including peanut butter, banana and potato crisps, and parboiled rice. Facilitated by industry experts Annah Silverster Mlingwa from SIDO-Morogoro and Hamisi Ramadhani from MATI-ILONGA Institute, the training encompassed theoretical practical, and technical sessions over a span of twenty-four days. The training sessions were meticulously structured, with morning and afternoon sessions allowing for immersive learning experiences. Participants delved into the details of processing peanut butter, followed by banana and potato crisps, and finishing with parboiled rice production. Utilizing a range of equipment such as grinding machines, slicers, packaging materials, and digital weight scales, the young mothers gained vital hands-on experience under the guidance of trainers.
The outcomes of this training initiative are truly inspiring: • Enhanced Skills: Fifty young mothers emerged from the program with heightened knowledge and practical expertise in agro-processing, positioning them for meaningful employment opportunities and entrepreneurial ventures. • Entrepreneurial Ventures: Empowered by newfound skills, the young mothers took proactive steps towards establishing their enterprises. They rented two business frames in SIGNAL village, laying the groundwork for sustainable economic ventures. • Start-up Support: Recognizing the importance of access to capital equipment, MVIWAMORO provided vital support to two young mothers' groups, equipping them with essential machinery and packaging materials to kickstart their processing endeavors. From grinding machines and slicers to packaging materials and weighing scales, these investments are pivotal in fostering self-reliance and economic independence. Agro-processing holds immense potential as a catalyst for youth employment and economic growth. By harnessing the rich agricultural resources of Tanzania, we not only create employment opportunities but also contribute to value addition and market diversification. Our efforts align closely with the Government of Tanzania's vision to stimulate youth-led enterprises and foster a vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystem. As we celebrate the success of this training program, we reaffirm our commitment to empowering youth and driving socio-economic development in our communities. Join us in championing the transformative power of agro-processing and youth entrepreneurship. #YouthEmpowerment #AgroProcessing #Entrepreneurship #EmploymentCreation #MVIWAMORO
