MVIWAMORO is proud to share the impactful outcomes of our recent soft skills training program, which took place from March 20th to April 12th, 2024, in the vibrant communities of Signal, Kiberege, Kisawasawa, and Mwaya within Ifakara-Kilombero. This comprehensive 24-day training initiative, attended by 200 young mothers, was a pivotal component of our larger six-month Agro Processing and Marketing Project, supported by Swiss Contact Tanzania's Skills for Employment Tanzania (SET) program. Led by experienced facilitators Mr. Joseph SENGASENGA and Ahmedi Kilama from MVIWAMORO, the training sessions delved into essential soft skills crucial for personal, professional, and entrepreneurial growth. Topics covered included group management, entrepreneurship fundamentals, record-keeping, financial literacy, gender responsiveness, psychosocial support, and self-awareness. The significance of these soft skills cannot be overstated. They serve as the cornerstone for the holistic development of young mothers, equipping them with the knowledge and tools needed to navigate the complexities of business ownership and community leadership.
Key Achievements: 1. Knowledge Empowerment: 200 young mothers emerged from the training with enhanced understanding and proficiency in the essential soft skills vital for business and entrepreneurship development. 2. Community Formation: Eight dynamic young mothers' groups, comprising 25 members each, were established across the four villages. These groups will undergo specialized training in agro processing and marketing skills, paving the way for sustainable economic empowerment. 3. Financial Inclusion: Eight village community banks (VICOBA) were formed, providing young mothers with access to savings and credit facilities. Through comprehensive financial literacy training, participants gained the confidence and capability to manage their finances effectively. 4. Banking Access: The establishment of linkages between VICOBA groups and NMB banks facilitated the opening of group accounts, fostering financial transparency and accountability. 5. Empowered Saving Culture: Young mothers collectively raised 1,394,000 TZS through their VICOBA groups, underscoring the transformative impact of financial education and community collaboration. 6. Community Engagement: A remarkable 75% of young mothers across all four villages enthusiastically joined the saving and credit groups, demonstrating a strong commitment to economic empowerment and community development. As we celebrate these achievements, we recognize the profound significance of investing in soft skills development for youth. These skills not only enhance employability but also foster resilience, innovation, and leadership qualities essential for driving sustainable change in communities. Join us in championing the empowerment of young mothers as they embark on a journey towards economic self-reliance and social upliftment.
