Despite existence of small business such as food vendor and small retail shop in Rudewa GONGONI and MVUMI village at KILOSA district but the good time for the business was only not more than 7:00 PM. Beyond 7:00 pm number of people moving around the streets decreased as people remain in their home with no place to go. But this situation has changed due to the established young mother’s business premises in the village. Four young mothers’ business centers have established selling processing snacks such as banana and potatoes crips, pigeon peas biscuits, yogurts and juices, the established business premises is the results of food processing skills training and marketing project where by 96(46,50) young mothers from Rudewa Gongoni and Mvumi village respectively were capacitated in food processing skills of mentioned snacks (as dried banana, potatoes crips and pigeon peas biscuits).

 

Not only food processing skills but also this groups of young mothers have been capacitated on entrepreneurship, group management and financial literacy skills. The project has ensured the trained young mothers are nurtured in groups and are successful establishing four groups after the training. they formed groups of 25 young mothers each, established their business premises of processing and selling their products with the supported production materials such as oven for biscuits processing, blender for chill sauce processing through the project. The estimated profit value of all the groups combined is 3,110,500 TZS from their business operation for the past six months. The project was implemented by MVIWAMORO and funded by the Swiss Contact Tanzania through Skills for Employment Tanzania project (SET). Despite the project phase out but MVIWAMORO committed to monitor established business to ensure its sustainability.
